WoTLK WiKi kicking us!?

Id like you to look at THIS and post what you think in that forum about the situation, plz remember we and others suported them throught alpha when blizz closed them down and now..........

Here is my argument as to why they should keep having the private servers:

1.) It will bring more hits to the their website than the regular information does. Reason being, the google bots and yahoo bots will ping it when they are searching, thus adding it to their database. Plus, the other wiki out there doesn't have a selection for private servers (to the best of my knowledge)

2.) A lot of their information has come from the Private Servers/Emus out there when the information wasn't readily available. Many of the screenshots/videos/information you see on their website are from Private servers.

3.) It hasn't hurt their wiki in dealing with private servers. It's not like they are smiled upon anyways after the whole Alpha deal.

4.) COME ON!!! come on!! CoMe ON!!


(And yes, I understand it's their choice to pick what will and won't go onto their forums. I also understand that a lot of arguments can be pointed out, but that's just my point)

what i think is that wow wiki admins are acting stupid just mi opinion.They just dont know what they are doing , because private servers are always needed even if the game comes out some people cant pay to play so theres where private servers come in.And mostly i agree they have much info from the private servers .

Uhm.. Lol thats a bit of an "iffy" thing the way i look at it. I can understand why they would want to keep us since you guys stood through the alpha scandal, but on the other hands once the real WotLK comes it, this will become full fledged illegal. I know blizzard dosnt make a big fuss about it, but sometimes pretty nasty shit can come out of a private server.
Agreeing with Kafka that Yes, they lose a valued member of WotLKWiki, They lose ALOT of pings from yahoo and google. On the other hand. Private server=liability. It was a "Wisely-Dumb" thing that they did (If that makes sense. Lol) Still, it's gonna take more than that to drop Chaos.

So it's ok to do something wrong when it's "ok" at the time? That's like saying, "well I shot that person because he was smoking weed, and weed is bad for you" in a sense. heh.

I have a feeling they just don't want their "good name" associated with the Private Servers or pressure from Blizzard themselves (which, they really don't care).

Here's my question, what's with that fellow Xiaoshen. I've seen him on other forums as an admin for BC private servers. What's he getting so butt hurt about?

Yes.. so that's why they kept them around for so long not fearing with the ominous blizzard would do, and they got a slap on the hand a couple of times already.

i think blizzard have some contact with them, and in order to have a chance to be like an official wotlk wiki when the expansion will be up, they must kik out unofficial thing in the arses...

btw i think is better for us to don't have too much advertising, when blizzard put the expansion on sale, for sure they will take any action against unofficial servers.

It would be a waste of Blizzard's time/staff/and money to try and hunt down all the private servers. They could really care less unless we were say making people pay for the server or something. Plus, if they were really interested in making it all game, they shouldn't have made it so easy to duplicate.

MaNGOS: What? Our program that we create just happens to run perfectly with a set up that can be hosted for a Blizzard server? Aww, imagen that..

Either way, WOTLK Wiki Has chosen to dump us because they're "Scared" Even though WOW Wiki already has most of the content on their site. WOTLK doesn't have near the man power, nor will it when it kicks it's supporters like that.

Hey there! I'm an admin at the wiki, and just wanted to say that we do appreciate what private servers have done for us in the past. But it's time to move on!

Just to clarify, most information is gathered of the real beta, this includes most screenshots.
The other information (model pictures etc) are from our own local private server.

its just a shame, sure all us private server will survive without them, but a fiew of us have been here since alpha and back then blizz wer attacking wotlk wiki, we all stuck by them and now we are getting shunned, but whatever its up to them, i just wonder what they have planned for the future and why they dont want us here anymore?

I understand your stance on this, hell, I'm a GM at Crogge's WotLK (don't flame me! ) and I don't like this decision either!

Also, I will try and keep Chaud from deleting said category, but I think it's already set in stone a while back.

All in all, it basicly comes to the point where we (the wiki) need to move on, and want to do so without private server advertisements.

Errr, I wished people would stop posting on dead threads. I think we moved on already about the Wiki deal. <.< I think we each took out a punching bag but we have bigger things to worry about.

Indeed Kafka. It's just refreshing hearing from WotLK Wiki though. Well, if Marla is the real deal. Then again, gotta think why someone would even attempt to pretend.
